July 17, 2021 - Idyllic hike to the Gertelbach Falls

The Gertelbach Falls are a very popular destination, especially in summer, so I made my way early in the morning to avoid the crowds.

Since fog was announced on that day on the Black Forest heights, I could hope for a few nice pictures that underline the mysticism of the Gertelbach Gorge.

An contemplative hiking trail that was laid out in 1889, leads through the forest to the falls over steps carved into the rock. Caution is therefore advised when it is wet!

The waterfalls are the steepest passages of the Gertelbach, which flows through the Bühlertal in the northern Black Forest. At the steepest point, the brook falls 330 meters in altitude, cascading down in numerous steps down to 7 m.

Since the hiking car park "Gertelbach" (P2) is only available with limited capacity, you can use the car park (P1) "Graveyard Obertal" instead.
